What is Story Capture?

Story Capture is a new AI-powered capture type that solves the blank page problem. Similar to single, timed, and continuous captures, Story Capture is where the demo creation process begins. Just hit record, talk through your product like you would on a live call, and GenAI will automatically turn your voice into a guided HTML demo, complete with screens and flows. Once you generate guides, you’ll get a guide copy to accompany your demo.

It’s like having a personal assistant that builds your first draft for you. You narrate, Walnut builds, and your demo takes shape within minutes. You can always edit guides or guide types after capturing as needed.

This means less time wrestling with structure and more time fine-tuning your message. Whether you’re enabling sales with new demo content or iterating on messaging, Story Capture helps you get to “done” way faster.

What is Video Overlay?

Sometimes a demo needs more than just hot spots and guides, it needs you.

Video Overlay lets you add a personal video layer directly into your demo experience. Record a video of yourself (or anyone on your team) to introduce the story, guide the viewer, or highlight specific product features and values for each step throughout the flow.

Now you can bring in face-to-face context and personality without needing a live call. It’s recommended to have sales reps duplicate your templates and add their own personal touch. That way, they can send a video demo pre or post-call or when the demo is passed to a new stakeholder in the buying committee to save everyone time from repetitive calls or recordings. 

This is perfect for sellers doing async follow-ups, product marketers launching new features, or sales engineers creating reusable walkthroughs to scale their work. Add clarity, build trust, and humanize your product, all in just a few clicks.

Video Overlay was built to have natural synergy with the way guides are set up for your workflow today. This means that you first capture your screens and then spice up your demo with modals, guides, hotspots, and now videos to tell your story.
